The Traitors: Canada, typically stylised as The Traitors Canada, is the English Canadian edition of the global franchise The Traitors. It is the fifth English edition of the show to launch & 17th edition of the show to launch globally, with its first episode airing on October 2, 2023.
History[]
The existence of two Canadian versions of The Traitors - a nationwide English version and a Quebec-only French version - was announced on June 6, 2023 by Bell Media. It was also revealed that Canadian actor Karine Vanasse would host both the English and French editions, making her the first person to host multiple versions of the franchise.[1] Two days later on June 8, 2023, Noovo also revealed that the English version of The Traitors would include some celebrity participants.[2]
Bell Media's Content Development and Programming VP Justin Stockman further revealed that Vanasse's contract had been finalised less than a week ago, with both versions slated to film back-to-back in Quebec over the summer, before they debuted in September 2023.[3] Both seasons were filmed back-to-back in August 2023: the English edition first, then the French one. They were also subsequently delayed from their original scheduled dates, with the English edition beginning in October and the French edition pushed back to early 2024.
On March 5, 2025, a third-season renewal was announced, ahead of the typical schedule, along with applications being open to the public for the first time in the show's history (previous civilian participants were all directly recruited).[4]
