Why did you apply to be on this brand-new reality game series? What interested you about the concept? I think it sounds like a really exciting new show that involves a lot of strategy and drama, and that's the sort of stuff I was looking for. I’m a bit of a drama queen really and I love getting all up in everybody else's affairs. Being a drama queen, a gameplayer and an agent of chaos I thought this was a perfect game for me. I'm excited by the prospect of getting a license to backstab everyone! I’ve done my research. It all sounds insane and that’s exactly the kind of chaos I'm looking for.
What's your motivation for being on the show? What's driving you? It’s really just a taste for drama. I wanted something juicy, dramatic, tense and chaotic. I know I will thrive in that sort of environment, so it felt like the perfect fit for me. I've never been to Scotland and I hope it’s going to be a dramatic first trip.
What do you think you'll bring to the game? A lot of strategy and a lot of brains. Not to humble brag but I think I'm quite smart. I was a student for seven years; I went to Oxford to study law and then went to Durham and did a Master’s in Law and I'm also quite street smart. I'm quite good at reading people, analysing people, reading body language, that sort of stuff. I can bring a really good, investigative brain, and also a good ability to lie to people, which is quite key to this game.
Do you have a game plan? Definitely. I've mapped out 100 strategies by now, I almost have a flowchart by this point! I’ve thought of all of the options. Being a Traitor, being a Faithful. I'm going to interact in the game, the little lies I can drop along the way.
If you are a Traitor, how far are you prepared to go to win the game? Nothing is off limits, that’s the whole point of the game. One of the big things that’s influenced me going into the game is thinking that we're all here for ourselves, you will have no friends. Everyone is going to backstab you when they get a chance to. So, it’s a case of being the first one to put the knife in before anyone else gets a chance to go for the knife. I’m not just going to throw my friends under the bus, I’m going to be the one driving it.
How good is your poker face? Do you think you'll be good at deceiving your fellow players? I’d be pretty incredible at lying. You need to really have the brain power for it. You need to be able to be consistent and never let your guard down. I think I've got what it takes, I’m ready to lie.
If you're a Faithful, what will your game plan be? How good are you at spotting a liar? For some light reading before I go in, I have the definitive book of body language. People think they're good at lying but no matter how good you are, everyone's got a tell and eventually everyone's going to let their guard down and say something stupid, it's just a case of you being there at the right time for that. That's a big part of my game plan, reading and analysing people. In this game at the beginning, you can't succeed unless you make friends. So, you have got to be ready to be friendly with everyone and to be part of every alliance.
If you're a Faithful, what qualities do you think you need to make it through to the final? You need to be good at flying under the radar, but you’ve got to be good at manipulating others, reading everyone else, and making good alliances.
If you win the prize money, what will you spend it on? I don’t care about the money that much, it’s more about the win for me. Essentially everyone came here to play, but I came here to win. I'm really competitive so I want to be winning the game... money is secondary.[1]
