Les Traîtres Saison 1 is the first season of Les Traîtres (Canada), airing every Monday on Noovo at 8:00pm, from April 8, 2024 onwards.
Background[]
The existence of two Canadian versions of The Traitors - a nationwide English version and a Quebec-only French version - was announced on June 6, 2023 by Bell Media. It was also revealed that Canadian actor Karine Vanasse would host both the English and French editions, making her the first person to host multiple versions of the franchise.[1] On the same day, Noovo also revealed that their edition of Les Traîtres would feature 18 civilians competing for C$100,000.[2] Bell Media's Content Development and Programming VP Justin Stockman further revealed that Vanasse's contract had been finalised less than a week ago, with both versions slated to film back-to-back in Quebec over the summer, before they debuted in September 2023.[3]
Filming for the series took place in August 2023 after The Traitors Canada/Season 1. On August 30, 2023, Noovo confirmed that its airing would be pushed back from the original tentative schedule of September 2023 to sometime in early 2024 instead.[4] The first teaser was revealed on February 12, 2024,[5] and a full teaser plus the official launch date confirmed as April 8, 2024 the following month.[6] Noovo confirmed a series renewal on June 6, 2024 with Vanasse returning as the host of Les Traîtres.[7]

Unique Characteristics & Twists[]
- Traitors' Ultimatum: At the end of Episode 8, there was only one Traitor left. They had the option of offering an Ultimatum to a Faithful of their choice, who would either be obliged to accept Recruitment or be Murdered otherwise.
- Banishment or Murder: At a dinner party in Episode 9, Karine announced to the remaining contestants that there would be either a Banishment or Murder that night (but not both). For a Banishment to take place, the group had to unanimously agree on it; additionally, the prize pot would either be increased by C$10,000 (if a Traitor was Banished that night), or decreased by C$10,000 (if a Faithful was Banished instead).
- Non reveal: The last contestant banished at the roundtable was not allowed to reveal their role.

- ↑ Marie-Josée and Mathieu were tied for the most plurality of votes. They were ineligible to vote again in the tiebreaker, while the other contestants voted to Banish one of them.
- ↑ At the dinner party, Karine asked the group to choose between Murder or Banish. If anyone chose Murder, there would be no Banishment, and the Traitors would Murder one of the Faithfuls. If the group chose Banishment unanimously, they would proceed to the Roundtable for a vote. If the group managed to Banish a Traitor, they would earn C$10,000, but if they Banished a Faithful instead, C$10,000 would be lost from the prize pot.
- ↑ Axel was not at the Roundtable due to a medical emergency. He was thus unable to vote, but was still eligible for Banishment.
- ↑ Vicky left the show for mental health reasons.

Trivia[]
- This is the first season in the international franchise:
- to reuse a host from another franchise (albeit in this case, from the same country).
- where a contestant was allowed to skip attending a Banishment (although they could still be voted for).
- where a Traitor who was still in the game missed out on a conclave.
