The Traitors Wiki

The Armoury is a key part of gameplay in some versions of The Traitors.

Mechanics[]

First introduced in Les Traîtres (Belgium)/Season 1, it has since appeared in every season except De Verraders (Netherlands)/Season 1 (before it was introduced) and The Traitors (Australia)/Season 1 and The Traitors (UK) and The Traitors (US), where Shields are competed for, or a side game during missions). In most episodes, one or more contestants will have the chance to visit the Armoury. It is also possible that no one meets the Mission conditions to visit the Armoury, even when the opportunity is otherwise available.

Those with the opportunity will take turns entering (how this is determined is not usually clear, although it informally seems that the contestants will agree amongst themselves what the entrance order is) and opening a box or cabinet door each. One or more of these doors will have some power hidden behind them: most commonly a Shield, but increasingly Daggers as well.

Twists[]

  • Multiple Powers in Same Spot: There might be multiple powers hidden in the Armoury, but in the same slot (rather than in separate slots per usual practice).
  • Double Daggers/Shields: The final Armoury visit in some seasons might see multiple Daggers or Shields hidden in the Armoury.

Strategy[]

While contestants were initially motivated to do well in Missions to increase the prize fund, they have increasingly cited an opportunity to visit the Armoury as being a more important outcome for Missions. Contestants may also choose to sabotage others specifically during Missions to prevent them from going to the Armoury.

The current metagame typically sees contestants entering the Armoury agreeing not to divulge if they won specific powers (especially the Shield) until the next day, effectively protecting them as the Traitors do not know who has the Shield and could risk 'wasting' a Murder by targeting someone who went into the Armoury. This is the case even if the Shield was somehow obtained by a Traitor, as it could put a target on their back due to speculation about how the Traitors knew who to avoid Murdering. After contestants on Series 1 of the British version almost immediately agreed to this, the Armoury was removed for the next series and henceforth (as with the US version).
